This book creates a particular voice from the way in which two chosen texts interact with one another. The first text is from a Walt Whitman poem, Song of Myself, that idealizes and emphasizes the beauty of nature, and the relationship between nature and man. The second text is Go Industrial, Not Green by Alex Epstein, an essay addressing the industrialization of the US. The combination and treatment of these two voices work to portray the ways in which nature is devoured by humans, despite the love and appreciation we supposedly hold for the natural world.
